Why is Print Preview not displaying all the page's text and graphics?

Problem Description

When using EXP 5.1 with Windows 98, Print Preview does not display any text or graphics on a page after the first Enhanced Metafile graphic on the page. This problem only occurs if the page contains one or more Enhanced Metafile graphics. Bitmap graphics do not cause the problem. Because EXP 5.1 converts all metafile graphics to the Enhanced Metafile format, this problem occurs with any metafile graphic in any EXP document.

Cause

There is a bug in the Windows 98 implementation of Enhanced Metafiles.

Affected Versions of EXP

Affected Versions of Microsoft Windows

Resolution

This bug is NOT present in Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, or Windows XP. At the present time, it is not known whether Windows Me contains the bug. EXP users who are affected by this bug should consider upgrading to a newer version of Windows, preferably Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, and Windows XP contain a more robust implementation of Enhanced Metafiles.
